Which social apps are the favorites among Gen Z?
You probably immediately think of TikTok, and maybe Snapchat for messaging, but the most popular app among Gen Z is actually YouTube, which is still classified as a social media app, though the focus is more clearly on the content than the social elements.
Which makes sense. YouTube is the cultural hub for younger audiences, with almost every Gen Z trend stemming from gaming and/or YouTube creators. And we’re now seeing the biggest of those creators branching into whole new fields of business, with MrBeast and Logal Paul among the various YouTube stars that are now taking their brands to expanded commercial opportunities.
And they’re driving success. Like it or not, YouTube is the new TV, and has already become far more influential than traditional TV among younger consumers.
To provide some scope on the relative popularity of YouTube over other “youth” focused social apps, the team from Visual Capitalist have put together this simple overview of the top Gen Z apps, based on data from Pew Research.
If you’re looking to reach them, this is where to go.
