Would Kerry Washington Return for a ‘Scandal’ Reboot? She Says…
Sarah Michelle Gellar won’t be back to fight the forces of darkness after all.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum shared that a planned reboot of the supernatural drama—which was set to debut on Hulu—is no longer in the works at the streaming service.
“I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me,” she said in a video posted on Instagram March 14. “Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale.”
Sarah, 48, was set to executive produce the series alongside Oscar winner Chloé Zhao—who also directed the first episode of the unaired sequel series—and she thanked the filmmaker for the opportunity to reprise her iconic role.
“I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots,” Sarah continued. “Thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn’t change any of that.”
