Samsung’s much-anticipated tri-fold smartphone might be coming later than recently reported. According to new information out of Korea, the device will be announced next month at the earliest, and is due to be released in November.
This comes contrary to what we heard yesterday, when the same source, weirdly enough, claimed it would be going official by the end of this month. Of course, after such a long wait, a month or two more isn’t that big of a deal.

Huawei is launching its second-generation tri-fold device this month, however, and the Mate XTs will be the main competitor to Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold, since it’s going to be the only other such device on the market.
Once again Samsung is said to be planning on shipping just 50,000 units of its first tri-fold smartphone, which, needless to say, isn’t much. To put that into perspective, the original Galaxy Fold had a 500,000-unit run. Of course, the new device will be more expensive than that was.
When it comes to why Samsung doesn’t seem to be in a rush to unveil the tri-fold device, apparently the company is seeing the Galaxy Z Fold7 performing very well in the market, and it doesn’t want to shift attention away from it – at least, not yet.
