The number of energy companies committed to a green-power transition continues to grow. Some pioneers remain at the leading edge, and Fortune recognized three of them on the 2024 Change the World list.
One of those companies is India’s ReNew Energy Global. Like many nations in the Global South, India’s economy is heavily coal-dependent. ReNew is doing its part to reduce reliance on a fuel that’s one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions. The company currently provides 6 million homes in India with wind and solar power; it hopes to double that by 2028.
ReNew is also training hundreds of women for renewable-energy jobs—a meaningful effort in a country where only 11% of that industry’s workforce is female, about half the global average.
