Frankie Cosmos Announce New Album Different Talking, Share Video for New Song: Watch

Frankie Cosmos have announced their sixth studio album. Different Talking arrives June 27 via Sub Pop. Today, the Greta Kline-led band have released a music video for lead single “Vanity.” Kline directed the visual and shot it with bandmate Alex Bailey. Watch Frankie Cosmos goof around in the clip below, and scroll down for the LP art and tracklist.
The current lineup of Frankie Cosmos comprises lead singer and songwriter Kline, as well as Bailey, Katie Von Schleicher, and Hugo Stanley. The band arranged and produced the album together, marking the first time they recorded without an external producer. “We’d go to any length to get Greta’s songs right, and she’s generous with songs, so we have a lot of freedom to arrange them,” Von Schleicher said in a press release. “It’s a rare talent to have, with rare freedom given, and the course hasn’t changed.”
Of lead single “Vanity,” Kline explained: “I started writing it one evening while I walked (~6.5 miles) from Tompkins Square Park to Sunset Park, speaking directly to the universe and pleading to be considered by it. It feels like it encompasses this push and pull between adult and kid, government and governed, planet and blade of grass.”
Different Talking follows Frankie Cosmos’ 2022 LP Inner World Peace.
