Rich Homie Quan has reportedly passed away. The rapper’s family and the Fulton County morgue confirmed his death on Thursday (Sept. 5) to TMZ. He was 34 years old.

Note that The Shade Room nor TMZ have confirmed his cause of death with the family or otherwise, but others close to him have raised speculations online. At this time, it’s known that RHQ passed in his Atlanta home. His family is reported “shattered and heartbroken.”

Quan is best known for his rap scene takeover in the mid-2010s after releasing his first single, ‘Difference,’ in 2012. Between 2013 and 2015, he dropped club bangers like ‘Type of Way,’ ‘My Hitta,’ ‘Walk Thru,’ and ‘Flex.’

Off stage, RHQ’s legal name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and was one month away from celebrating his 35th birthday on Oct. 4. Quan reportedly leaves behind three sons, Devin, Royal, and Khosen.

Friends, Boosie & Other Celebrities React To Quan’s Death

News of Quan’s passing first started circulating on X (formerly Twitter) after a popular Young Thug fan account shared the news, citing an overdose as his cause of death. Less than 30 minutes after the first post, Thugger Daily followed up with screenshots of Instagram Stories posts from people allegedly close to Quan.

One post came from Richard Stark, who wrote, “I’m devasted.” In May, Stark shared a video of himself at the rapper’s album listening party. The second post is from rapper T.O., who shared a photo of Rich Homie Quan captioned, “RIP.” T.O. (@iamtogreen on Instagram) also confirmed Quan’s death in a DM exchange screenshot shared by Thugger Daily. He seemingly suggested the OD was prompted by a “bad pill.”

As mentioned, Boosie also confirmed speculations about Rich Homie Quan in two X posts. In the first, he tagged Quan, alleging his cause of death was OD (overdose), and said he recently spoke to the rapper. The second post showed Boosie’s appreciation for RHQ.

“JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA #tipQUAN Never forget yo smile n the way talked n of course yo music,” Boosie wrote.

Quan Was Recently In Headlines Because Of Young Thug’s Trial

One day before his death, Rich Homie Quan was in media headlines because of the star witness in Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial. A circulating video shows Atlanta prosecutors questioning Lil Woody on Wednesday (Sept. 4) about Thugger’s past feelings toward RHQ. Woody responded, in part, by attempting to ask Young Thug the prosecutor’s question. Both Woody’s unprecedented move and Young Thug’s laughter about it caused the clip to go viral.

This development comes after Lil Woody previously admitted to shooting up Quan’s father’s barbershop. He gave that testimony in mid-August, citing a man named Threat as an accomplishment. Woody also went viral for that testimony because before spilling the beans, he turned to the judge and asked, “Your honor, you said nothing I say can be used against me?” When the judge confirmed, Woody let loose.

Ultimately, Woody testified: “I don’t what know what happened with Threat and Rich Homie Quan, but I’ma ride with my brother and they was beefin’ and yeah, we pulled up and did that.”

Rest in peace to Rich Homie Quan.
