Samsung is rumored to be launching a wider form factor Galaxy Z Fold this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8, which will keep the taller and narrower form factor of its predecessor. The “Wide Fold” was shown in some leaked renders last month, but it doesn’t have an agreed upon name yet, we’ve heard it referred to as Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide in the past, and today it’s the Galaxy Z Wide Fold.
Regardless of its name, here are some images depicting its aspect ratio when unfolded. It’s 4:3, which is very far from, and much wider than, the Fold7‘s 1.11:1 (or 3.33:3). So here’s what that actually looks like, courtesy of One UI 9, Samsung’s upcoming skin on top of Android 17, which is where these images were found.

This should help with multitasking since if you have two apps open side by side neither of them should be too skinny, and it can also help inside apps where they have more space to breathe and offer a proper tablet UI instead of just blowing up the phone UI. Or they would, but Android apps notoriously don’t care that much about tablets, so it’s going to be hit or miss.
Obviously, this wide Fold is meant to preempt Apple’s iPhone Fold in the market, as that device has long been rumored to feature a very similar wider aspect ratio. So Samsung will be able to claim it did this first (presuming the wide Fold launches alongside the Fold8 in the summer).
