The holidays are over, but discount season will stretch into mid-January 2025 thanks to Sony’s ongoing New Year sale on PlayStation 5 and PS4. There are some really steep discounts on a ton of great games. A perfect time to grab some neat stuff that you’ve been meaning to tick off your backlog.
The Top Ten Most Played Games On Steam Deck: December 2022 Edition
Okay, so that’s not exactly how backlogs are traditionally supposed to work. It’s supposed to be about finishing the games you’ve already bought. But with more games coming out then ever before, its increasingly normal to add stuff to your backlog list when it’s a little cheaper, farther down the road once you have more time. With the 2025 release calendar not ramping up for another few weeks, now’s that time.
Some of 2024’s biggest releases are currently marked down. Helldivers 2 is 20 percent off ($32), Stellar Blade is 29 percent off ($50), Dragon Age: The Veilguard is 40 percent off ($41), Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is 25 percent off ($53), Silent Hill 2 remake is 30 percent off ($49), and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is 25 percent off ($53). But the biggest savings are on older stuff:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 –$20 (67 percent off)
- Hogwarts Legacy – $18 (75 percent off)
- Cyberpunk 2077 – $25 (50 percent off)
- Elden Ring – $36 (40 percent off)
- Resident Evil 4 – $20 (50 percent off)
- Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – $20 (60 percent off)
- Alan Wake II – $30 (50 percent off)
- Tekken 8 – $35 (50 percent off)
- Street Fighter VI – $30 (50 percent off)
- Final Fantasy VII Remake – $15 (50 percent off)
- The Witcher 3 – $10 (80 percent off)
- Lies of P – $36 (40 percent off)
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – $35 (50 percent off)
- Hades – $10 (60 percent off)
- Streets of Rage 4 – $10 (60 percent off)
- Slay the Spire – $9 (60 percent off)
- Borderlands Legendary Collection – $10 (80 percent off)
- Nier Automata – $16 (60 percent off)
- Okami HD – $5 (75 percent off)
The year ahead is bringing all sorts of sequels. You can grab Grand Theft Auto V for $15 (50 percent off) to prepare for Grand Theft Auto VI, and Doom Eternal for $10 (75 percent off) to get ready for Doom: The Dark Ages. My personal favorite discount on the list above is Okami HD which is currently an absolute steal and perfect to revisit coming off of last year’s sequel announcement at The Game Awards 2024.
Borderlands 4 is another big upcoming 2025 release. The Borderlands Legendary Collection is all you need to catch up. It includes the first two games and the prequel which lays much of the groundwork for what we’ve seen teased in the new trailers so far. I give you permission to skip Borderlands 3 and just catch up with a YouTube video.
