Charles is an Adjunct Professor at Georgia State University College of Law, teaching innovation in the practice of law. He recently retired as General Counsel for Cox Family Office, with responsibilities including investment transactions, governance, compliance, and risk management. Before Cox Family Office, Charles served as Managing Attorney for Cox Enterprises over investment transactions, governance, knowledge management, and ethics & compliance, including service as an NYSE public company compliance officer.
Charles started his legal career as an Army JAG officer, including service in Iraq and Saudi Arabia as a civil-military operations coordinator, foreign claims commissioner, and POW camp advisor. In the community, Charles supports veterans by mentoring with American Corporate Partners veterans career program, and the higher education community by having served as a member of the advisory board for executive programs at the Kennesaw State University Coles College of Business.
