JOY TO THE WORLD DAY 24
‘Twas the day before Christmas
And all through the halls
The children in Georgia
Waited for Santa Claus
Cute as a button
And sweet as a peach
When hearing the story
To their pencils they reach
Snuggled up with Nugget
To this tale, they drew
Sharing joy with the world
And mostly with you
Opened in 1998, the Children’s Hospital of Georgia is a 149-bed 220,000-square-foot facility. The hospital is designed just for children and combines a theme of nature and technology to create a safe haven for children and their families. There are playrooms for children that provide toys and games and a Family Resource Library provides parents and siblings the latest information on diseases and treatments. At Augusta University, they pioneered patient and family-centered care, knowing that when barriers are removed, a strong collaboration between healthcare providers, patients, and families is in place, outcomes are improved. Special thanks to Kym Allen, Director of Child Life Services for helping bring these children’s stories to you.
