Several shots were fired at a Georgia college party, killing one person and injuring seven others.

The incident happened early Saturday morning near Fort Valley State University.
Fort Valley State University issued the following statement on Twitter: “Students were injured, however no one was seriously injured at this moment.”

The deceased individual was not a student, according to the institution. As a precaution, the university was placed on lockdown, but it was later released when campus police decided there was no danger.
According to the agency, all seven of the wounded people are doing well. It shared a photo of the “active situation” near the campus, where the incident happened.
The university postponed Saturday’s homecoming parade as a safety measure and said that there will be additional security precautions in place for the homecoming game on Sunday.
It stated it was thinking about the pupils and their families.
